Cruise around the Greek Islands - Introduction

A great way to see the Greek islands is aboard a cruise ship. A 7 day voyage that we got to see 7 different places: Venice, Ancona, Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, Corfu, and Dubrovnik. We visited historic places of the ancient greeks and also the venetian empire. A mixture of mystic greek mythology and the medieval Venetian trading empire which are the pilars of today´s system that we live in.

The Costa Victoria floating inside Santorini´s 80 Km volcanic crater which exploded 6000 years ago.

The town of Oia is built on the ridge of the great volcanic crater of Santorini.

Mykonos is like a greek version of Ibiza - very posh.

At the Acropolys in Athens it was magnificent to see the remains of the temples of the greek gods.

The island of Corfu is full of mysticism from Ulysses Odyssey. Perhaps this was the beach he landed after his ship sank from the wrath of the gods.

The old italian city of Ancona was part of the Venetian empire.

The medieval city of Dubrovnik was part of the great trading Venetian empire.

We got back to Venice just in time to see the fireworks of the Redentore festival.

The whole trip was wonderful and onboard we never had a dull moment. We cruised through the Adriatic Sea, the Ionian Sea, the Sea of Crete, and the Aegean Sea.It was definetly a fantastic voyage that inspired my imagination of the ancient civilizations that once thrived this region of the world.
